Drum on Blog

The repetitive and painfully tedious nature of my editing work today, coupled with the slow load times that are part and parcel of the online platform that hosts the content I'm working, does present one perk: I've got plenty of time to divert my attention, in 25-45 second snippets, to all my favorite bloggers.

So it is that I find myself catching up on Kevin Drum from Monday past. Just when I'm coming off a long layoff and looking to get my readership back up (mere double digits would make me happy right about now), Kevin's is the sanguine voice of reason. Bloggers: slow down. You don't have to react to everything. Pick your words thoughtfully, Drum reminds me, and your readers will come find you.

Defections

I wrote yesterday that I was betting on Barack Obama to get the job done for Democrats in 2008 (and 2009, 2010, 2011 . . . you get the idea). Looks like I'm not the only one. Kevin Drum, who I would have guessed would stick with Hillary Clinton, has endorsed Obama for the primary tomorrow. And Kevin is in California, a state which Clinton wasn't supposed to have to fight for.

Things could get real interesting now.

Too Heinously Painful for Words

Kevin Drum pretty well voices my own sense of awe and dismay at the idea of pitching Big Coal as the answer to US energy needs amid the current fever to curb greenhouse gas emissions. I really don't even have anything to say. Read Kevin here.
